FOUNDER Of MOM STARTS HERE NONPROFIT
Mom Starts Here is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Counties. We connect women in unplanned pregnancies, young moms, and families in need to the resources available to them. We look to meet their needs, empower them, and assist them in their parenting journey.
Kyla found herself pregnant and the age of 19 and while she thankfully had the support and resources she needed she couldn't help but see that others in her community did not. Six years ago she founded Mom Starts Here. The organization works to provide families with necessary items such as diapers, clothing, car seats and more. She continues to try to grow the nonprofit to be able to offer more goods and services as well as possibly expanding into other communities.
"We tried to be unique in the way that we addressed the need gaps that we were seeing to make sure that we weren't just putting a band aid on the issue but really solving it and taking the emotional and mental burden off of families"
